I went to the car emissions place recently (a requirement before we renew our license plates each year here in Tennessee), and as I was leaving they handed me a small vinyl bag.
I asked what that was for, and they said it’s an easy way to recycle your cell phone.
This reminded me of other
websites I’d previously bookmarked as being “reputable” sites for cell
phone recycling.

Why Recycle Your Old Cell Phone?
A study by the EPA showed that only 11% of e-waste is made up of mobile phones — which means almost 90% of them are ending up in landfills or sitting in desk drawers.
Also
according to the EPA, for every million cell phones we recycle, we can save
35,000 pounds of copper, 774 pounds of gold, and 33 pounds of palladium.
Not to
mention the toxic chemicals you would be keeping out of groundwater, air, and
soil.
Before You Recycle Cell Phones
Kim Komando was the first person that I heard recommend cell phone recycling. She’s an online and radio host who talks about all things electronic — including computers and cell phones.
On her radio show, I heard her share these tips:
Before you decide how you want to recycle your cell phone, you should delete all personal data — even if you’re passing it onto someone you know.
These are the steps to effectively erase the data on your phone. (There are also a number of data eraser apps, too.)
Now that your personal information has been safely removed from your device, it’s ready for donation.
There
are a variety of options from phone carrier and manufacturer-sponsored
initiatives to third party organizations — such as drop-off centers that
recycle cell phones, mail back programs, websites, and charity drives.

Here are a few other cell phone recycling options:
#2 – Smartphone Recycling – a great program from industry leader GRC Wireless. GRC Wireless has helped tens of thousands of nonprofits, community organizations, and schools raise over $15 million through cell phone and smartphone recycling.
#3 – Hopeline Phone Recycling – exclusive to Verizon Wireless, they donate money towards domestic violence victims.
#4 – Gazelle – One of the most popular trade-in options for old cell phones. You can ship it for free and receive a check or gift card to Amazon.com or PayPal — after they verify that the phone is in the condition you stated.
#5 – Any Phone Carrier – For example, AT&T has a trade-in program for unwanted phones and accessories regardless of manufacturer or carrier. You get a “promotion card” which can then be used to take money off a new phone or any other purchase.
#6 – Eco Cell – they partner with nonprofits and organizations. Bins are located in coffee shops and other businesses around the country — where the collected phones are shipped to an Eco Cell location in Louisville, Kentucky. If the phones are reusable, they resell them and pass some of the money back to the owner.
While they may seem like a strange and awkward object to hold and carry around on the go, selfie sticks actually can be quite beneficial in capturing your perfect moments in life. They all look and perform similarly, but they can vary significantly in terms of features, functionality, and build quality. Some are simply better than others.

The ReTrak ETSELFIEB helps to showcase that sometimes simplicity is key. It utilizes the 3.5mm port on your smartphone or digital device to function. This is convenient because you don't have to worry about the battery running out during crucial or important moments. The lightweight design makes it easy to carry on the go in your pocket or small bag without much of a hassle. Despite the small form factor, it has a large enough cradle to house even the largest of smartphones and digital devices proficiently.
On Walmart's website, the Minisuit Lite 2015 Edition holds an impressive near perfect rating. It is listed at about $9.

Digipower Quikpod TP-QPXT
Extreme
On the more expensive end of the price range is the Digipower Quikpod TP-QPXT Extreme. While it may be pricier than other options, it is also one of the most durable. It is made out of a high quality waterproof aluminum material and can extend from a range of 18 inches to 53 inches. Not only that, but it comes with a variety of attachments that you can utilize to help make carrying and capturing photos a cinch. There is also a built-in mirror that would come in handy when you are using a GoPro or other digital cameras without a front-facing display.
Retailing for about $60, the Digipower Quikpod TP-QPXT Extreme was named byBusiness Insider editor Taylor Lorenz as "the best stick you can buy."
GoPro 3-Way
A selfie stick highlighted by the Wall Street Journal's Joanna Stern is the GoPro 3-Way. Just like the Digipower Quikpod, it too is on the more expensive side, but it is also quite durable and very high quality. It can be utilized in three different ways, hence its name. The waterproof GoPro 3-Way can be utilized as a camera grip, an extension arm, or a tripod. Since the handle acts like a storage compartment to help store the tripod, portability is a breeze.
The GoPro 3-Way, which sells for about $70, was highly regarded by Joanna Stern to be very compact, offering great selfie shots thanks to its two jointed design. Plus, she was pleased with the tripod functionality as well since it offers a different means of capturing selfies.
PolarPro PowerPole
Another selfie stick that Joanna Stern
featured on the Wall Street Journal and was fond of is the PolarPro PowerPole.

This next selfie stick is one of the
smallest and the lightest. It has one of the longest extension poles for its
size too. The Looq System DG-L001 Selfie Monopod measures 8.7 x 1.2 x 3.1
inches, weighing 3.5 ounces and extending from 8.2 inches to 41.7 inches. It
does not utilize Bluetooth functionality to establish a connection since it
uses the 3.5mm port on your smartphone or digital device. This wired
connectivity is very convenient for those who do not want to use Bluetooth or
to bother with constant recharging.
In an article on Forbes, editor Nick Guy recommends the Looq as the best of the sticks he tested. He mentions that the wired connection as opposed to Bluetooth connectivity is what makes it fantastic to use. You can purchase one for about $14.

Gimmicky, Yet Functional
Selfie sticks, while they may seem like a gimmick, are actually more useful than you might think. Despite their common appearance, each one has its own distinct properties. Knowing which are the best and offer the highest quality can make all the difference. Just be mindful of places that have banned their use.

Cell phone cases serve a very important purpose beyond simple aesthetics, though the value of personalization should not be understated. Smartphones are expensive pieces of equipment and they need to be suitably protected against the usual bumps and bruises associated with everyday use. Well-designed mobile phone cases can help prevent scratches, chips and other damage and they come in a variety of different styles and types.
Types of Cases for Mobile Phones
There is no such thing as the perfect cell

It may be tempting to opt for the least

Use A Phone Ring Grip
Most of the following apply to only a small minority of people with smartphones.
Here are a few reasons you
might want to avoid using a phone ring holder:
If you happen to use a wireless charging pad to charge your phone, then you cannot have anything on the back your your phone — not a phone ring grip, not a pop socket, or anything else.
If the back of your phone has an anti-fingerprint coating or you have a silicone phone case, then a phone grip ring won’t work.
If you like to use your index finger on the hand you hold your phone with to type or text, then a cell phone ring holder won’t work for you.

It is normal for an iPhone to feel a
little warmer especially when charging the battery or playing game for hours.
However, when you sense that your phone is heating up and its battery drains
all of a sudden, then you need to pay attention to this issue. It’s an
indication that something is wrong with your device and that thing needs to be
fixed before it gets worse.
How to Tell if My Phone is Overheating
Heat is a battery’s enemy. Most smartphones are designed with heat dispersion so they don’t overheat easily. Your iPhone is designed to perform well in a wide range of ambient temperatures, with 62° to 72° F (16° to 22° C) as the ideal comfort zone. It’s especially important to avoid exposing your device to ambient temperatures higher than 95° F (35° C). Using an iPhone in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.
If the interior temperature of the device exceeds the normal
operating range, the device will protect itself by attempting to regulate its
temperature. If this happens, you might notice these changes:
Charging/wireless charging, slow or stops.
The display dims or goes black.
Cellular radios enter a low-power state. The signal might weaken
during this time.
The camera flash is temporarily disabled.
Apps perform slow.
When the iPhone starts to overheat it will display a warning message: “Temperature: iPhone needs to cool down.“ An iPhone showing this message might still be able to make emergency calls.
An overheat smartphone usually freeze,
run out of battery fast, shorten its battery life, or even explode. So, take it
seriously once your phone is extremely hot. When it comes to phone abnormal
heating, it seems that there is potentially dangerous as a smartphone
exploding.
Which Can Cause iPhone
Heating up
There are a couple of basic reasons your
iPhone overheat. The first is when misbehaving or damaged components generate
more heat than they should. Another is when the cooling system isn’t operating
as well as it should be. For example, your phone’s cooling holes may be full of
dust, something may be blocking your phone’s vents. You might notice that
your device heats up in these situations:
Running too
many apps that use much battery power.
Charging a
phone with a fast charger but not its original one.
Using a
protective case that black or slow down heat dissipation.
Phone signal
and the network is poor.
When iPhone
runs many tasks or reanalyzes data, like Phones tagging for faces, places,

When you set
